Edward Norton Has (Tremendous) Anxiety, Too.
To be honest, my anxiety has been pretty high lately. It feels as if everyone is on edge. Even driving on the freeway I've noticed there's less patience, more agitation, honking.
The price of everything I purchase on a regular basis has gone up.
And I catch myself doomscrolling. But have gotten much better about not doing it for longer than a few minutes (a skill I had to learn during the height of Covid). A couple of evenings ago, I was on YouTube frying my brain with the latest world news and ran into this extended interview that Stephen Colbert had with Edward Norton.
You know, Edward Norton? Famously in that movie Primal Fear and American History X and even had a cameo in Salma Hayek's Frida (back when they were dating <3 ).

Anyway, I watched the clip because the title was "Action Is The Antidote To Doomscrolling Anxiety." And who wouldn't watch that right now, plus I'm loving how Stephen Colbert is giving no ducks about what topics are discussed on his show and how he goes about doing it since it was announced last summer that his show would end in May 2026. He has been very outspoken (like most late night TV hosts) regarding the idiocy that is the Trump administration.
"For me the only antidote to the anxiety has been action.
Some kind of action." - Edward Norton

Watching this helped me feel less alone. Yes, Edward Norton is famous and wealthy and maybe has a secret escape pod at the ready to blow this popsicle stand if needed, but he, too, has the same anxieties that most of us have. He speaks about the illegal war that Trump has started, masked agents taking people away, etc. It helped me tremendously to watch this clip because it all rings true.
Anxiety.
Action.
