I Absolutely Love This Documentary About Art That's Saying Something
Especially lately. Each day feels like a bit of a slog to get through and attempting to be creative when there's a moment free - I just can't somedays. The news is too much. The world is too much.
And then, last weekend, I watched a documentary that made me feel absolutely ecstatic about creating again, especially creating work that reflects our current times.
If you haven't watched Secret Mall Apartment, I highly recommend it! It provided me a dose of optimism and inspiration that I hadn't felt in a while. It's about living art projects, creating and giving back to communities, and giving a huge jab to developers that are displacing groups of people in the name of making money, and privilege, relationships - everything.
The documentary, to me, is about true art. Not art that lives in a museum behind velvet ropes that one has to pay to view.
It's currently streaming via Netflix.
I hope it also inspires others.
Keep creating.
Keep documenting.
xoxo
P.S. Fuck ICE .
Yes, yes, loved this documentary. I don’t think the apartment project would be possible nowadays - too many security cameras. Loved how they document their projects.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. Too many cameras nowadays. That little Pentax camera they used - incredible that it captured so much!
