Taking Away The Health Care Subsidies Will Kill Americans
Today we'll learn just how many American lives the Republicans are willing to sacrifice in order to keep to their agenda. (Does that sound dramatic? Because I was trying to find another way to frame this but if you get it down to a sentence, that's what is happening.)
After crunching some recent numbers, for our household, with the latest current offerings via the health exchange we found if the subsidies are kept we would be paying about $300 per month for insurance (for a family of three). If the subsidies go away, as the Republicans wish, our cost will be over 4x the above amount. (The co-pay for a doctor's visit being $40.)
I've seen too many news clips of people saying they will no longer be able to afford to have medical insurance and so their plan is to cancel and go without.
The system isn't perfect. The Affordable Care Act did not solve all the issues in the health care system. Until the American government is willing to address the greediness of those who profit off of people that are sick, then this health care cost issue will continue to perpetuate. Corporations hold their employees hostage with "benefits" such as health care coverage. It feels as if the government and large companies are in cahoots to keep everyone in constant anxiety and when an entity can do that, it can control its population/employees better.
The plan that Republicans plan to unveil today will not do anything to assist with what Americans are going to have to pay each month to keep insurance for 2026.
This will kill Americans.
I don't think they care.
